On Monday, morning 8:00 am, September 1, actor Mark Gil passed away this was confirmed by the manager of the actor, June Rufino, confirmed the news in a statement sent to ABS-CBN News.
"On behalf of the Eigenmann family, June Rufino, manager of Mark Gil, confirmed that the actor passed on at 8am today," the statement said.
Also according to Ms. Rufino, Mark's family will have a media announcement this afternoon. "The family requests their privacy at this time. A media announcement with the family will follow at 5 pm today."
It was reported that the 52-year-old actor died of liver cirrhosis.
Mark Gil or Raphael Joseph de Mesa Eigenmann in real life is the son of Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil. He is the brother of actors Michael de Mesa and Cherie Gil. He is the father of Gabby Eigenmann and Ira Eigenmann, whose mother is actress Irene Celebre. Sid Lucero Eigenmann and Maxene Eigenmann are his children from actress Bing Pimentel. He also has a daughter, young star Andi Eigenmann with actress Jaclyn Jose. He has been married since 1996 to Maricar Jacinto-Eigenmann.
Gil rose to fame for his role in the movie “AKO, Batch '81” as Sid Lucero, a college student who witnessed the abuse and torture of seven students by members of a college fraternity during the Marcos regime. His other movies include “Underage,” “Indio,” “Miss X” and “Palabra de Honor,” among others.

This was confirmed by Oineza on 'Aquino & Abunda Tonight' when interviewed by Kris Aquino. According to young actress Jane Oineza, she will be playing the lead role.
Joshua Garcia and Loisa Andalio, who came in 6th and 5th in the reality competition respectively, will also be marking their teleserye debut with the new show.
Earlier, it was rumored that the new teleserye Jane would be working on was the remake of Judy Ann Santos' hit 'Esperanza' but it turned out to be false.
Aside from Jane, Loisa and Joshua, others stars in 'Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita' are Marco Gumabao, Vina Morales, Denise Laurel, Christian Vasquez, Sue Ann Ramirez, Ina Raymundo and Dominic Ochoa.
The two-minute long trailer, uploaded on the official YouTube account of ABS-CBN, teases the general plot, which will revolve around a daughter's search for his father.
'Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita' is directed by Ricky Lee, soon in ABS-CBN.
