Nora Aunor, Eula Valdez, Dante Rivero and Robert Arevalo won the top acting awards in the 10th edition of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival or simply Cinemalaya X this year.

"Hustisya" lead star Nora Aunor was named Best Actress in the Directors Showcase category while Eula Valdes of "Dagitab" was chosen as Best Actress in the New Breed category.

Meanwhile, Robert Arevalo bagged the Best Actor trophy in the Directors Showcase category for "Hari ng Tondo" and Dante Rivero as the Best Actor in the New Breed category for "1st ko Si 3rd".

Award presenter Mimi Juareza described her as “our National Artist” when called up to the stage to receive the Balanghai trophy. In response, the crowd inside the Main Theater gave Ate Guy a standing ovation.

Nora’s citation indicates that she won the Best Actress award in the Directors Showcase category for her “competent portrayal of a lowly worker in the human trafficking industry seeking to rise from the muck and vice of the criminal underworld.”

In her speech, Aunor thanked the Noranians who comprised a huge portion of the crowd last night, August 10, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

“Sa wakas po, nagkaroon ako ng pelikula sa Cinemalaya,” exclaimed Nora in her acceptance speech."
